Hi Nada, this is Jenny here. I'm currently doing a Diploma in TESOL course from London Teacher's Training College and the course has been so interesting. It's been a wonderful experience so far and I'm sure that it will be the same for the remaining part of the course.

I was actually surfing the net and happened to type in a linguistic term (language acquisition I believe) and whilst reading for information happen to chance upon your lovely website! I spent some time reading about your profile and viewing your family pictures, etc. Although I do not know you personally, I feel that by reading your profile and achievements I think that you're a fabulous lady!

I was in Melbourne, Australia about 5-6 years ago doing some studies and I happened to meet another Lebanese friend by the name of Nada too! It was lovely to meet her at university and also her family (we used to catch up for coffees and cakes at local cafes; in winter sometimes I would just drop by her home for a home-made coffee by her mom!). I am excited to meet another Nada this time from Lebanon... It was at Nada's home that I used to taste home-made Lebanese food prepared by her mom; and I especially loved hommus with pita bread.

She did mention to me that Lebanon is a beautiful city as she used to visit Lebanon whilst growing up with her family. However, she did mention that with the civil war that things had changed. I was also under the impression that Lebanon was mostly a Muslim country but was surprised to hear from her that it's about 50% Christians and 50% Muslims. At times I also used to joke with her and say that the Lebanese boys are very good-looking... there's a huge Lebanese community in Melbourne and in Sydney too I believe.

I'm currently still single but have a dream to one day have a family to call my own. And always say that I'll have a good home. It was really nice to read about your family rules and conduct and to have you as a role-model in my life.

If you ever happen to travel to Singapore I would be happy and blessed to have you stayover in my home. At the moment, I'm looking at going back to Australia (this time Perth!) to study again this July for about 2-3 years. I would be back in Singapore for my holidays or India from time to time. If you ever do make plans to visit South East Asia or Australia, please do not hesitate to email me and perhaps we could meet up in person sometime.

Keep up your great and good work Nada and I pray that God will continue to use you to teach and bless others, just as He has blessed my life with you as a role-model. God bless you dear and hugs to you and your family from across the miles!

Today I read your research paper about Error Analysis and I really liked it. It really enriched and broadened my horizons for things that I was not aware of. I really appreciate your work and we are in the same boat as I am an English language teacher. I taught in Lebanon for 5 years. After that I moved to Saudi Arabia and I have been teaching here for five years. The problems I face here are some how exactly the same. I hope I can meet one day or attend one of your classes or lectures to share things regarding English. I would also like to mention that I taught grade 9 students (Brevet) for five years in Lebanon.

I was really happy to find your site in the web. I hope you could help me. I'm a student in the External Program of the University of London doing Spanish and Latin American Studies. I have to write an essay about compering two prescribed texts one from a Multiple View Point and the other from a Single View Point. I do understand the concept in itself but unfortunately I can't find any example of a text with a Single point of view. It looks like that's impossible because there is always more that one people's points of view. Is there anything I am missing?

I was one of your students during the 1998/1999 season at the Collège Notre Dame de Jamhour. Classe de seconde 1. Well, in fact, I am pretty sure you don't remember me. But I do. My name is Rabih Khoury, and used to sit at the right end of the class. I don't if you even have ever heard my voice (well because I didn't have one at that time)...
Anyway, I got to the literary section and succeeded in that field. I am studying Journalism at LAU Beirut. And I write much. And I mean like really much.
What made me write is my English teacher in Première/Terminale. She used to like really HATE me. And I couldn't handle that. I had really good grades during your classes and I remember being a "good student" and enjoying the matter of English Subject. Still, with the other teacher, I felt horrible. I had a standard 6/20 on all her exams, and I always wondered why. My only good grades were on essays. And in Terminale, I began with a 6.6/20 and ended with another great 6.6/20...
So that was a horrible story, I am not gonna bother you with that. At university, it all went wonderful. I took three english courses and was one of the few who managed to get a straight A ... I even gave private lessons on campus to a Saudi student (!!).
My writings started when I was in late 16. Now I am here with a full poetry book, and I so happy with it. The truth is I am not able to find still a publisher. I got encouraged by my University English teachers ...
I don't know why I am telling you this but I am here to thank you for the wonderful year (which was really tough by the way) I had with you. I learnt way too much. Later, I had managed to get over my scary teacher and got respected for what I am and not for what I write (even though i like the opposite...)

Nada,  I especially enjoyed reading your writings from Robbie's
Rhetoric and Style class.  She has retired and I am now teaching
that course.  Although we had the same teacher/major professor at
Auburn, I have chosen to teach the course using Corbett's text as
a supplement.  My syllabus was designed for secondary education
majors; I do, however, have some English majors and BLA majors.
We are reading landmark articles by "compsters" such as Nancy
Sommers, Sondra Pearl, Maxine Hairston, and others.  We're

I am so very impressed with your site.  I think what impresses me most is
the detailed organization you seem to have with every aspect of your

mission statement page- do you review that with your students?  If so, in

I found your website through Yahoo while doing research for my ESOL
class.  You have some really great things on it!  I am in my first year
as an ESOL teacher.  I am a Spanish teacher normally (for the past 12
years), but I am doing this for the first time this year.  I really

Hi! I'm a senior undergrad Psych student in the Ateneo de Manila
University in the Philippines. I'm also doing my thesis on EQ and
Academic success along basically the sam lines as yours.  My sample size
is smaller though, and there is a triangulation in my framework that
includes FGDs, interviews and surveys to get students and teachers ideas
on Academic success.  When I correlated my EQ scores and grades though,
I didn't get a significant corrleation.  The only thing that came out
significant at the .05 level was the correlation of Self-awareness (one
of the sub categories) and the grades.  I'm curious as to how your study
turns out! Good luck with it!

Greetings,

I am trying to put together information to persuade my local school board to make changes in current educational policy.  Over the past ten years this school district has made policies to cut recess, prohibit all school parties and demand homework over all school breaks including summer vacation.  (that would be significant homework in all subject areas).

I have been writing letters and making phone calls to try to remind these policy makers of the importance of childhood and the development of my children's emotional health --all to no avail.   The school district contends that in order for children to compete in today's society - nothing - must interrupt the "learning process".

I am hoping that a more formal "paper" with significant documentation will help to argue my cause.  If you can recommend any readings or directions I might follow,  I would appreciate  your efforts.
